What we collect

  • Contact and delivery details: your name, billing and delivery address, email address and phone number.
  • Order details: what you buy, return or cancel, and your order history.
  • Payment details: confirmation that you have paid. Card and account details are handled by our payment providers, and we never see or store your full card number.
  • Account details: your login details and saved addresses, if you create an account.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, phone, post or through our contact form.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you have signed up to our emails, how you signed up, and how you interact with our emails.
  • Prize draw entries: your name and email address if you enter one of our draws.
  • Website usage: your IP address, device and browser type, and how you use our website. Where this relies on non-essential cookies, we only collect it with your consent.

How we use it and why

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of your information.

  • To process and deliver your order, take payment, and handle returns and refunds. Basis: to perform our contract with you.
  • To manage your customer account. Basis: to perform our contract with you.
  • To answer your questions and complaints. Basis: our legitimate interest in looking after our customers, or our contract with you where it concerns an order.
  • To keep financial and tax records. Basis: legal obligation.
  • To send you news, new arrivals and show dates by email. Basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To run prize draws and contact winners. Basis: to perform our agreement with you when you enter.
  • To measure how our website performs and show you relevant adverts online. Basis: your consent, given through our cookie banner.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website secure. Basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our business and our customers.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as they need it:

  • Shopify: hosts our website, checkout and customer accounts.
  • PayPal / Shopify Payments: process your payments.
  • Royal Mail and our couriers: deliver your order.
  • Klaviyo: sends our marketing emails and manages our mailing list.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): shows our adverts and measures their results, only if you accept advertising cookies.
  • Google: website analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Our accountant, HMRC and other authorities: where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Shopify may also use information about your interactions with our store for its own services, in which case Shopify is responsible for that processing. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including Shopify, PayPal and Klaviyo, store or process information outside the UK, including in Canada, the USA and the EU. Where this happens, your information is protected by UK adequacy regulations or by approved contractual safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

How long we keep it

  • Orders and financial records: 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as required by HMRC.
  • Customer accounts: until you ask us to close your account, or after 2 years without activity.
  • Marketing list: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email address on a suppression list, so we do not contact you again.
  • Enquiries and complaints: 2 years after the matter is closed.
  • Prize draw entries: 6 months after the draw closes, unless you have also signed up to our emails.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are essential for it to work, such as remembering your basket and completing checkout. These are always on.

With your consent, we also use analytics cookies, Google Analytics and advertising cookies (Meta Pixel, Klaviyo) to understand how our website is used and to show you relevant adverts. You can accept or reject these when you first visit, and change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to restrict how we use it
  • object to how we use it, including an absolute right to stop direct marketing at any time
  • ask for your information in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, email mandy@manteaux.co.uk. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first. We do not make any decisions about you using solely automated processing.
